Lighting design for Woolwich Leisure Centre, the new community leisure destination at the heart of Woolwich, London. The project will provide a wide range of state-of-the-art facilities to encourage families, young people, and adults to be more active. Spanning 12,800m² across three storeys, it is one of the country’s largest urban leisure centres and forms a key part of the Royal Borough of Greenwich’s ambitious regeneration plans for Woolwich. Our lighting design approach sought to create a welcoming and uplifting environment that complements the building’s architectural language while supporting the wellbeing and comfort of its users. From bright, open circulation areas to more focused lighting in activity zones, the scheme balances functionality with visual harmony. Light quality, contrast, and colour were carefully tuned to enhance energy, clarity, and a sense of safety, ensuring the centre feels vibrant, inclusive, and distinctly part of its surrounding community.
